Get Slammed at Re-bar

Lyrically slammed that is. I just found my new favorite spot to go to and it's a little tucked away bar, that I literally drove by twice, called Re-Bar. Okay I know that I am fairly still new to the area and every new place that I go to seems to be my new favorite but I'm really impressed with you Seattle. Now I understand how you all make it through the weather! Every Tuesday night Re-Bar fills in the joint with their poetry slam night. Now for all of you who don't know what a poetry slam is it's where poets go on stage, perform a piece, and get judged to move on to the next round. So pretty much 10 become 5, which then become 3, and then a winner is picked. You can always tell the pros from the amateurs because the pros go up there with no paper to read off of, just all raw emotion. I wish I had the guts to go up on a stage and perform a spoken word piece... damn you nerves! What's also great about poetry night is that they always highlight a poet, who is usually not from here. The last time I went the poet was a cutie from New York, Adam Falkner (179th street what what...had to rep my fam fam). Adam was a natural performer, adding in some comedy in between his poems, and then was all soul when he performed. Ohhhh child, I was light-weight in love for about an hour and I'm positive I was not the only one hypnotized by him. I've posted some of his videos below so you all know what I'm talking about.

Now the poetry slam is right up my alley but if that doesn't interest you, Re-Bar has a ton more to offer. They host a TON of DJ's, who according to the bartender, are the shit. What I'm excited to see is the very drag show by Miss Dina Martina who is suppose to be just a riot and performs every Saturday night. I see me going to this bar a lot more in the future. Yay drunks!
